The Religious Communities Trust
The Religious Communities Trust is a not-for-profit investment trust
established by Catholic religious leaders with the mission to develop
and provide secure, reliable investment programs for Catholic
organizations and institutions.

Board of Trustees
The RCT Board of Trustees includes men and women whose combined
experience, dedication, and vision ensures that the RCT’s strategic
planning and program implementation respond to the need of the Catholic
ministries.
Their leadership and commitment have greatly contributed to the
strong performance of the funds, and to their highly successful,
interactive relationship with the RCT’s investment advisor and
administrator, Christian Brothers Investment Services, Inc.

Brother Louis DeThomasis, FSC |
Brother Louis is a founding board member of the
Religious Community Trust, and has served as a trustee since 1976. He
is a member of the De La Salle Christian Brothers, and currently serves
as president and professor of interdisciplinary studies at Saint Mary's
University of Minnesota. He founded Christian Brothers Investment
Services, Inc., and served as chairman until 1987. He completed his
undergraduate studies at the Edmond A. Walsh School of Foreign Service
at Georgetown University, where he received a bachelor of science in
foreign service in 1963. In 1986, he completed his post-doctoral
studies as a Bush Fellow at the Institute for Educational Management,
Harvard University, after earning a Ph.D. in financial management from
the Union Institute in Ohio. He also studied philosophy and geopolitics
at the University of Madrid, and studied theology at the graduate level
at Providence College. In 1989, Illinois Benedictine College conferred
upon Brother Louis a doctor of laws degree, honoris causa. He was
knighted in the same year to the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre of
Jerusalem.

Robert Doerfler |
Robert Doerfler joined the RCT Board of Trustees in 2003, having previously served on the CUIT Board of Trustees from 1992 to 1998. He is currently the Diocesan Finance Officer and Director of Pastoral Administration for the Diocese of Colorado Springs. Previously, Mr. Doerfler served as Business Administrator and Director of Youth Ministry for the Church of the Divine Redeemer in Colorado Springs, CO. Mr. Doerfler is active on number of boards, including Franciscan Community Counseling, Catholic Housing Corporation of Colorado Springs, and Catholic Charities of Colorado Springs. He is a member of the Diocesan Fiscal Management Conference and the National Association of Church Personnel Administrators.
He received his B.A. from Loyola College in Baltimore, MD, and his M.B.A. from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, CO.

Sister Carol Marie Kelber, CSJ |
Sister Carol Marie is a former president and
founding board member of the Religious Community Trust, and has served
as a trustee since 1976. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of
Orange in 1947 with a ministry in health care, accounting and finance.
From 1949 to 1965 Sister Carol Marie served in various hospitals as a
business office supervisor and finance officer. She implemented the
first computerized billing and accounting system, and supervised the
consolidation of all insurance programs, for the Sisters of St. Joseph
of Orange hospitals, and coordinated the creation of a centralized data
system for all hospitals owned and operated by the St. Joseph Health
System. Sister Carol Marie served as general treasurer of her
congregation from 1966 to 1980, and established its retirement fund for
elderly sisters. She served as the director of financial services of
the St. Joseph Health System from 1980 to 1990. Since 1990, she has
been the regional director of risk management for the Sisters of St.
Joseph of Orange in Humboldt County, where she oversees seven health
care facilities. She sits on the boards of numerous organizations and
hospitals run by her congregation, and currently serves as the chair of
the Petaluma Valley Hospital Board of Trustees.

Gayle A. Lampkowski, CPA
|
Ms. Lampkowski joined the RCT Board of Trustees in 2009.
She has been Chief Financial Officer for Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania, Ohio since 1992. She was previously employed with Ernst & Young for thirteen years serving primarily governmental and not-for-profit clients.
Gayle received a B.S. in Accounting from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Gayle currently serves on the board of the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic LPGA tournament, and the board of the Sylvania Franciscan Academy. She also serves on the Corpus Christi University Parish finance committee and the Lourdes College assets committee. Gayle has served on several other not-for-profit boards during her career.
She previously served on the board of the National Association of Treasurers of Religious Institutes (NATRI) and also served as board chairperson.
Gayle is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Ohio CPA Society and the Resource Center for Religious Institutes (RCRI).

Sr. Patricia McGowan |
Sister Patricia has served as a trustee of the Religious Communities Trust since 2002. She entered the Sisters of Social Service of Los Angeles in 1962 and spent the next 20 years working with youth, as a group worker at community centers, a campus minister on university campuses, and executive director of a youth camp and conference center. After earning her Master of Business Administration at the J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University in 1984, she was the manager of consulting services at the Center for Nonprofit Management and advised various charities throughout Southern California.
Beginning in 1990 Sister Patricia served as general treasurer for her congregation for ten years. She next ministered within her congregation as associate director of development and project manager for construction of a new motherhouse, assisted living center and ministry center. At the present time Sister Patricia is finance and grants manager for Los Angeles House of Ruth (a shelter for homeless and battered women and children) and co-director of Camp Mariastella, a youth camp and conference center. She serves on boards of several charitable organizations, and is the current finance chair for the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange Healthcare Foundation.
