The CBIS Board of Directors consists of men and women whose combined experience, dedication and vision help ensure that CBIS’ strategic planning and program implementation effectively serve the complete investment management needs of Catholic institutions.

  • Mr. Jeffrey A. McCroy

    President and Chief Executive Officer, CBIS

    Current Role
    Mr. McCroy is responsible for the mission of CBIS, its services and organizational development and is a member of the Management Team. He believes that to grow our business, we must focus on the core elements of investing, distribution, infrastructure, and our ongoing leadership with CRI.

    Experience
    Mr. McCroy brings extensive experience in the investment industry. He joined CBIS from American Century Investments (ACI), where he had been their Head of Global Client Relationship Management since 2012. Prior to ACI, he was President and Chief Operating Officer for Transamerica Investment Management (he also served as Chairman), where he worked extensively with various asset managers across distribution channels, grew the sales teams and improved the firm’s profit margins. He was Managing Director and President for Bank of America’s investment distribution unit (formed after the Fleet and Columbia acquisitions) that served the institutional and retirement segments. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Creighton University.

  • Mr. Edward P. Mooney, Jr.

    Edward P. Mooney, Jr. joined the CBIS Board of Directors in June 2016. Mr. Mooney retired from Artisan Partners Limited Partnership in 2014, where he had served as Managing Director since 1999. While at Artisan Partners, Mr. Mooney led several of the marketing, sales and client service groups for the firm.

    Mr. Mooney has more than 20 years experience in the investment management industry. Prior to Artisan Partners, Mr. Mooney held similar roles with Pilgrim, Baxter & Associates, Morley Capital Management and SEI Investments. Mr. Mooney holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Villanova University.

  • Brother Joseph Saurbier, FSC

    Midwest Provincial Office, Midwest District

    Brother Joseph Saurbier, FSC, is the Treasurer and Director of Administration and Operations for Christian Brothers of the Midwest, and has served on the CBIS Board of Directors since 1990. Brother Joseph has also served as an assistant provincial and director of education. He was the principal of De La Salle Institute in Chicago from 1984 to 1990. Brother Joseph is the Chairman of the Board of Christian Brothers Services and sits on the boards of Christian Brothers College High School in St. Louis, MO, and Saint Joseph High School in Westchester, IL. He also serves on the International Economic Council at the order’s headquarters in Rome. Brother Joseph received an undergraduate degree in accounting from Lewis College, his M.B.A. from Lewis University, a master’s in educational administration from De Paul University and a certificate in business administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

  • Mr. William R Rybak

    William R. Rybak has served on the CBIS Board of Directors since February 2010. Mr. Rybak retired from VanKampen Investments, Inc. in 2000, where he had served as executive vice president and chief financial officer since 1986. Previously, Mr. Rybak was a partner with the accounting firm of KPMG LLP (formerly Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co.) since 1982. Currently, he is on the Board of Trustees of the JNL Funds, and on the board of directors of the Calamos Mutual Funds and PrivateBancorp, Inc. Mr. Rybak previously served as a member of the board of directors of Howe Barnes Investments, Inc., an investment services firm located in Chicago. He also served as a director of Alliance Bancorp, Inc. and its predecessor, Hinsdale Financial Corp., from 1986 until 2001.

  • Mr. Sergio J Masvidal

    Kamaway Capital Partners, LLC

    Sergio J. Masvidal joined the CBIS Board of Trustees in 2012. He is the founder and president of Kamaway Capital Partners in Miami, FL. Prior to founding Kamaway, he was the Vice Chairman of American Express Bank Ltd. (AEB), American Express Company’s international banking subsidiary, based in New York and the head of the Private Bank, with responsibility for all Global Wealth Management activities for AEB.

    Masvidal joined American Express Bank in 1987 as General Manager of American Express Bank International (AEBI), the Private Banking arm of American Express Bank Ltd. In 1992, he became President of American Express Bank International and in 1996 he was made Latin American Region Head for The Private Bank.

    Masvidal has more than 30 years experience in the banking industry, having served in executive positions at Continental Illinois National Bank from 1970 to 1974. From 1974 to 1977 he served as Vice President of The Northern Trust Company. He served as General Manager of Irving Trust International Bank in Miami from 1977 to 1980, and from 1980 to 1983 he was Senior Vice President in charge of the Florida region for that institution. From 1983 to 1987, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Bank M in Miami, a family owned commercial bank. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Economics from the University of Illinois (Champaign), and is a 1980 graduate of the Harvard Business School’s Program for Management Development.

  • Ms. Nola Kulig, CFA

    Kulig Consulting

    Nola Kulig joined the CBIS board in 2009 after serving on CBIS’ investment committee since 2006. She is the founder of Kulig Consulting, LLC, an investment consulting firm to high net worth individuals and family offices. Prior to founding Kulig Consulting in 2008, Ms. Kulig was part of the senior management of Blue Heron Consulting, LLC, a management consulting firm to investment management organizations. There, she advised chief investment officers on organizational effectiveness, investment process issues, industry positioning strategies and maximization of investment performance. With her partner there, she consulted on roughly $1 trillion in assets. Before joining Blue Heron in 2000, she was part of the senior management of Russell Investment Group, then the country’s leading pension consulting firm and manager of more than $100 billion in investment funds. Ms. Kulig served most recently at Russell as portfolio manager with direct responsibility for $3 billion of assets under management. Early in her career, Ms. Kulig served as a bank examiner for the U.S. Treasury Department, working in both commercial and trust bank regulation.

    Ms. Kulig has a B.A. in economics from Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA, where she graduated cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. She completed various training courses in banking law while at the Comptroller of the Currency. After moving to the investment industry, she completed her Chartered Financial Analyst designation and recently was recognized by the CFA Institute for her work in continuing education. Ms. Kulig has also completed Kellogg University’s Women’s Director Development program. Ms. Kulig has served on the Board of Overseers for Whitman College, a private liberal arts college in the Pacific Northwest since 1999. She is a member of the CFA Institute and the Hartford, CT Society of Financial Analysts.

  • Ms. Pamela S Gleeson

    De La Salle Institute

    Pamela Gleeson joined the CBIS Board in 2013. She is the Chief Financial Officer of the De La Salle Institute, the San Francisco District office for the Brothers of the Christian Schools, a position she has held since September 2012. Prior to joining DLSI, Pamela was the Chief Financial Officer for Santen Incorporated, the U.S. headquarters for a Japanese-owned ophthalmic pharmaceutical company for which she worked fifteen years. Pamela also serves on the boards of the Napa Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Napa Valley and Trellis Napa Valley. She holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley and is a California CPA (inactive). Pamela lives in Napa, California with her husband and two sons.

  • Brother Timothy Froehlich, FSC

    Brothers of the Christian Schools, District of Eastern North America

    Brother Timothy Froehlich has served on the CBIS Board of Directors since February 1996. A member of the Brothers of the Christian Schools since 1982, Brother Timothy is director of finance for the District of Eastern North America, a position he has held since 2009. From 1994 to 2009, he served as Director of Finance for the District of Baltimore. From 1991 to 1994, he worked as an investment consultant for Christian Brothers Investment Services, Inc. He has served on investment and finance committees for a number of Lasallian apostolates, and currently serves on the board of the Christian Brothers Services. He is a member of the District of Eastern North America District Council, Finance Committee and Investment Committee. Brother Froehlich is a 1978 graduate of Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, where he obtained an undergraduate degree in business administration with a major in management and a minor in sociology. He also obtained a master’s degree in theology from La Salle University, Philadelphia, in 1990, and a teaching certificate in accounting from St. Joseph’s University, Philadelphia.

  • Ms. Kathleen M Flanagan

    Leadership Communication, Inc.

    Kathleen Flanagan brings more than two decades of experience to the CBIS board, which she joined in 2008. Currently, as President of Leadership Communication Inc., she is an executive consultant in leadership communication, specializing in shared leadership and decision making. She helps corporate executives, leadership teams and boards produce change, set direction, generate good decisions, inspire action and achieve success through communication and interaction. As Senior Vice President of Nuveen Investments, she was responsible for marketing communications for new product campaigns that raised $25 billion in assets in closed-end funds. Later, she was responsible for fund board development, managing relationships with the outside directors who annually approved the contracts that generated a substantial portion of Nuveen’s revenue. In this capacity, she developed board presentations and strategic reviews for the family of Nuveen funds. She had significant responsibility for managing the operational and financial reviews required to meet SEC and fund governance requirements. Ms. Flanagan received her Bachelor of Science degree in Humanities magna cum laude from Loyola University and her Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago. She later attended the Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program and did additional studies at the Loyola Center for Organization Development. She is currently working on a book about the post-Vatican II renewal of Catholic sisters, focusing on the School Sisters of St. Francis who taught at Madonna High School (Aurora, Illinois) in 1965.

  • Brother Martin Rocha Pedrajo, FSC

CBIS Global’s Funds are registered and incorporated in Ireland in accordance with the laws, regulations and requirements of Ireland and the European Union under the auspices of UCITS (Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities: Regulations, 2003). The Funds are legally available throughout the European Union and the world according to individual country requirements.

  • Mr. David L. Skelding

    Partner, Croke, Fairchild, Morgan & Beres, LLC

    Mr. Skelding is a partner in the Chicago-based law firm of Croke, Fairchild, Morgan & Beres.  He acts as outside counsel to CBIS providing legal, compliance, and other services in support of its mission. Previously, Mr. Skelding was in a number of executive management roles at CBIS. He joined CBIS in 1998 as General Counsel. He was named Executive Vice President and Head of Distribution in 2013, having previously served as head of client service from 1999 to 2005. He also served as Chief Compliance Officer from 2004 to 2017. Prior to joining CBIS, Mr. Skelding was an equity partner in the Chicago law firm of Lord Bissell & Brook, where he practiced securities, finance and general corporate law, with an emphasis on the investment management industry.  Mr. Skelding is chairman of Recovery on Water, Inc., a Chicago not-for-profit that offers rowing programs for breast cancer survivors. He is also a director of Friends of Our Lady of Martyrs Shrine, Inc., which owns and operates the Shrine of the North American Martyrs in Auriesville, N.Y.   Mr. Skelding holds an A.B. from the University of Chicago and a J.D. from Cornell Law School.
