CBIS, a leader in socially responsible investing for Catholic institutions, has expanded its NY-based investment management team with the aim of enhancing manager research and due diligence. As a manager of managers, CBIS seeks out high quality, institutional investment firms with disciplined, repeatable investment processes. We then look to assign these managers to appropriate products or blend them together to produce distinctive product strategies \u2013 all while incorporating our Catholic Responsible Investing\u2120 approach. \u00a0This is intensive work that requires constant review and monitoring of each portfolio and manager. Over time, CBIS may expand their roster of managers, intensifying these efforts even more.<\/p>\n
As such, CBIS has brought two veterans to the firm to work in conjunction with our CIO, John Geissinger, in performing due diligence of existing managers in addition to the review, analysis and selection of new managers for CBIS\u2019 investment strategies:<\/p>\n
James Mullaney joined CBIS on July 13th as a Director in the Investment Management Department and will be responsible for Equity research.\u00a0 Prior to joining CBIS, Jim was at Verizon for 29 years, including 10 years as Director, Head of Equities.\u00a0 Additionally, he is an Adjunct Professor of Economics at Mercy College. Jim has an M.A. in Economics from Fordham University and an Executive M.B.A. in Management from Pace University.<\/p>\n
Dean Armstrong joined CBIS on August 3rd<\/sup> as a Director in the Investment Management Department and will be responsible for Fixed Income research. Prior to joining CBIS, Dean was Managing Director at Clearbrook Investment Consulting for 27 years advising their institutional client base.\u00a0He graduated from Roger Williams University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing.<\/p>\n CBIS also announced today that Dan Nielsen, Director of Catholic Responsible Investing, will be leaving after 6 years with the firm. Dan will be replaced, and his successor will inherit one of the most comprehensive socially responsible investing programs available to Catholic institutions globally. Julie Tanner, Assistant Director of CRI, continues to head the firm\u2019s active ownership efforts and Frank Coleman, EVP, who has oversight of the CRI team, will provide assistance to the department on an interim basis.
