As we noted over the several weeks following, the Holy Father\u2019s words held special meaning at CBIS. Through our Catholic Responsible Investing\u2120 approach, we develop quality, ethically and socially responsible investments aimed at helping Catholic institutions align their portfolios with the teachings of the Church.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCBIS has made some great strides to protect the environment in the past 12 months,\u201d said Julie Tanner, Director of Catholic Responsible Investing at CBIS. \u201cAfter successful shareholder votes on <a href=\"\/us\/news\/98-8-in-favor-vote-for-shell-oil-climate-focused-resolution-co-filed-by-cbis\/\">resolutions<\/a> in 2015, BP and Shell responded with extensive <a href=\"\/us\/news\/bp-and-shell-issue-climate-change-reports-in-response-to-resolutions-co-filed-by-cbis\/\">climate change reporting<\/a> and data in the first quarter this year. We also helped carry the Pope\u2019s message to <a href=\"\/us\/news\/resolution-co-filed-by-cbis-exceeds-expectations-at-exxons-annual-shareholder-meeting\/\">ExxonMobil<\/a> in May, and the shareholder vote on our climate resolution exceeded expectations,\u201d she said. \u201cIt gave us renewed hope and has emboldened our forthcoming efforts with the oil giant.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPope Francis inspires us every day in our work for the common good,\u201d said David Skelding, EVP at CBIS. \u201cWe put forth considerable effort this year to build out our participant service, investment management, distribution and CRI teams in service of the Church.\u201d Skelding also noted, \u201cWe will leverage staff and resources in our continued focus on the Pope\u2019s call to protect our common home, as well as on other critical issues the world faces such as human trafficking, water sustainability, and pornography.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We invite you to read our full analysis of the encyclical, <a href=\"\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/12\/laudato-si_final2-1.pdf\">A Look Back: Laudato Si\u2019 &amp; The Pope\u2019s Historic 2015 Visit<\/a>.
